Giang Nguyen, MD, DPhil, is a dermatologist with a unique blend of global experience and a deep commitment to empowering underserved communities. Born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam, where she lived until completing her high school education. It was during these formative years that she developed a profound awareness of healthcare disparities, sparking a lifelong commitment to improving access to care for underserved populations. Whether through hands-on clinical practice in resource-limited settings or innovative research that bridges gaps in treatment, Dr. Nguyen has spent her career not only advancing medical knowledge but also creating pathways for others to do the same. At the heart of her work is the belief that compassionate care is transformative, an ethos that drives her both as a clinician and as a mentor.

At DermREACH, Dr. Nguyen, as President, leads a non-profit organization dedicated to providing compassionate dermatologic care to underserved communities. With a focus on education and mentorship, DermREACH strives to train and inspire the next generation of doctors, empowering them to serve with not only clinical expertise but also a deep sense of social responsibility, a necessity in today’s AI-driven world. Dr. Nguyen’s vision is to restore the human connection at the heart of medicine, equipping young professionals to deliver care that goes beyond treatment, addressing the unique needs of the most vulnerable populations and creating a lasting impact on global healthcare.
 
Dr. Nguyen, a dedicated dermatologist, has spent her career treating a diverse range of patients with complex dermatologic conditions, from hidradenitis suppurativa, severe cutaneous adverse event to oncologic therapies, to skin cancer, always with a focus on the most vulnerable populations. Her commitment to providing compassionate care spans both high-resource and low-resource settings, where she draws upon her experience in global health initiatives to offer not only medical expertise, but human connection. Through her charitable missions, she has brought essential care to those without access, while also mentoring local healthcare providers, fostering sustainable change in the communities she serves.
 
As a consultant at Mayo Clinic, Dr. Nguyen leads research that bridges the gap between dermatology and oncology, focusing on pharmacovigilance and advanced oncodermatology. She strives to improve patient outcomes in diverse settings, believing that true progress in medicine lies in equitable care for all. Her work has been recognized by numerous prestigious institutions, including the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Institute, and the New York Academy of Medicine, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology , Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, as well as the Mayo Clinic Career Development Award.
 
Dr. Nguyen’s contributions to the field of dermatology are vast, with numerous peer-reviewed publications in many top journals such as PNAS, Nature Cell Biology, and the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. She earned her MD from Duke University and a DPhil in Medical Oncology from Oxford University,  where she combined her passion for medicine and research with her commitment to improving global health, driven by the belief that education, collaboration, and service are the cornerstones of meaningful change in healthcare. At the heart of Dr. Nguyen’s work is a profound commitment to lifting those who have been overlooked, transforming both her patients’ lives and the future of dermatologic care.
